Description of R. Ashley Krohmal's artwork: The juxtaposition of color and form vibrate to create dynamic tension both on the surface and under it in these magnificent paintings. The sheer size alone is a proving ground for sweeping gesture. Crevices and valleys form, boulders are spewed, lava flows; the natural world and the action of its creation form a partnership with abstract ideas and ideals present in the formation of imagery in these works.
