 R. Ashley Krohmal R. Ashley Krohmal’s artwork celebrates gesture, mark making, color and form. After attending Alfred University, Ashley completed a ceramic internship in Nagano, Japan. She then went on to obtain a MS in Art Education from the College of Saint Rose.
She is proficient in both ceramics and painting. Her work captures aspects of landscape and abstraction. Also accomplished in her work is an atmospheric quality created through gestural marks and sensitive glazing.
Krohmal says “Process, not representation, is central in my art. My work is created in the moment as a spontaneous dance. The goal of this process is a balance of energy and control, the known and the unknown. My intention is to transport the viewer to a new, perhaps, unknown place. I hope this art invokes a sense of familiarity as well as curiosity.”
